Ernest Poku, 22, is reportedly closing in on a Premier League switch, with Sunderland among the clubs interested. Bild claims any fee for the Bayer Leverkusen winger would be around £21.4 million.

He is currently on the books at the Bundesliga side. Regis Le Bris’ team are seeking a right-flank reinforcement after Bertrand Traore left at the end of last season.

Earlier on Tuesday, Foot Mercato claimed that Sunderland had agreed a deal for Moussa Diaby but withdrew because of visa issues. Sunderland Echo understands the club were not in for Diaby and those reports were denied.

Bild also states Diaby could leave Al-Ittihad to return to Leverkusen, where he played between 2019 and 2023. The 27-year-old is said to be keen and any move would reportedly cost less than £25.7 million.

Poku’s potential departure is viewed as a development that could in turn help Leverkusen move to re-sign Diaby.
