Manchester United will stand firm in their valuation of Bryan Mbeumo this summer and not be pressured into overpaying by Brentford.
It comes after the Red Devils saw their opening proposal of £45 million upfront plus £10m in add-ons rebuffed last week, with INEOS now mulling over how to approach the situation before the window reopens on Monday, June 16.
Brentford could also raise their demands if they can sense a potential bidding war, and Tottenham Hotspur’s recent appointment of Thomas Frank means United are no longer alone in the race.

Mbeumo, 25, is said to be intrigued by the prospect of reuniting with the coach he’s played under for the last five years in a new environment — despite previously giving his full priority to the Reds over Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Frank has already shown he can get the best out of the Cameroonian international, whilst the move would also allow him the chance to play Champions League football for the first time.
In 2024/2025, Mbeumo oversaw a career-best campaign when notching 20 Premier League goals and a further eight assists, making it no surprise that the Bees are adamant about getting their money’s worth from their talisman’s exit.
According to a report from ESPN this morning, United are navigating their summer window spending with ‘discipline’ ahead of a year with no European football to account for.
Omar Berrada has privately set a ‘price point’ that must be adhered to in regards to the side’s Mbeumo approach, meaning United could well decide to walk away from a deal if Brentford are persistent in their demands.
In such a case, the board will then turn their attention to two Premier League-proven alternatives in the form of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
