Manchester United have decided to loan out Ethan Williams despite his impressive performances in pre-season.
The 19-year-old left to join Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership for this season, subject to international clearance.
The official club website also confirmed that the young Englishman put pen to paper on a new deal before departing.
His new deal will run until 2028 with the club having the option of extending it by another year.
“Ethan Williams has signed a new contract with Manchester United before heading out on loan, subject to international clearance.
“The 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on fresh terms with his boyhood club that will run until 2028, with the option of a further year.”
The Carrington graduate had spent the last six months out on loan at League Two side Cheltenham Town, where he scored twice and registered as many assists.
The winger, who excels out on the left, but can also play more centrally, then caught Ruben Amorim’s eye who opted to take him to the US on the club’s pre-season tour.
He even went on to score against Bournemouth in Chicago as the 20-time English league champions romped home with a 4-1 triumph.
He had received a loan offer from Croatian club HNK Rijeka as well as several EFL clubs, but it is the Scottish side which ultimately won the race, much to the delight of manager John McGlynn.
He told the Falkirk official website,”We’re absolutely delighted to bring Ethan Williams to Falkirk. He’s a young player of real quality who has been developed in one of the best academies in the world at Manchester United, and he now has the chance to take the next step in his career with us.
“Ethan is quick, direct, and has an eye for goal, qualities that we feel will add a different dimension to our attacking play and excite the supporters.
“We’re looking forward to working with Ethan now. This is a great environment for him to learn, develop, and show his ability, and we believe Falkirk is the perfect place for him to take his game to the next level.”
Hopefully, Ethan Williams can return as a man from his loan and subsequently stake his claim for a place in the first team.
