Everton are not waiting around. With David Moyes now at the helm and pushing for upgrades in wide areas, TEAMtalk has reported that Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo has emerged as a key target. The 24-year-old Japan international, a former Real Madrid prospect, is being tracked closely by the Toffees, and TEAMtalk sources say the interest is “genuine”.
Kubo’s numbers last term make for compelling reading: seven goals and four assists across all competitions. Those are the sort of stats Everton have lacked out wide, particularly with Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom returning to their parent clubs. TEAMtalk’s report outlines that “a new right-winger is a top priority for Moyes”.

Everton’s summer budget may well revolve around this role. Sociedad value Kubo at around £30 million, and “Everton are willing to spend a significant portion of their summer budget” to bolster that area of the pitch.
Another fascinating name on the list is Omari Hutchinson. TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher revealed that the Ipswich Town winger is another player being considered by Everton, and that he “remains on the shortlist”. At just 21, Hutchinson is already turning heads, despite Ipswich’s relegation. He scored three goals and assisted twice in the Premier League last term, and caught the eye at the U21s European Championships.
TEAMtalk believes £25 million to £30 million could be enough to prise Hutchinson away, with West Ham and Brentford also watching closely. That level of competition could spark a bidding battle, but Moyes’s promise of first-team football may yet give Everton an edge.
It’s not just Kubo and Hutchinson on the whiteboard. TEAMtalk previously reported that West Brom’s Tom Fellows, another England U21 international, is a summer consideration. At 21, his development curve is attractive, and his name remains “in the frame” as Everton look to future-proof their wide options.
And then there’s Jack Harrison. Though not currently in the club’s plans as a starter, “Moyes appreciates him for his work rate and attitude in training”. Leeds United have made it clear Harrison has no future at Elland Road, and a return to Goodison Park remains on the table. A deal “paid in instalments” is described as possible, though no agreement has yet been reached.
With the imminent arrival of Thierno Barry, following Charly Alcaraz into the building, Everton are shaping up for a far more proactive window than in recent seasons. There is clear intent to add wide pace and directness. In the current market, that takes both courage and capital.
As TEAMtalk rightly summarised, “Everton are set for a very busy few weeks in the transfer window”, and all signs point to at least one new right-winger arriving.
There’s something energising about seeing Everton actually act with foresight for once. Kubo? That’s the type of ambition Blues fans crave. A player who’s been part of the Real Madrid system, is technically sharp, and still only 24. Yes, £30 million is steep, but if we’re serious about progress under Moyes, then we have to back it.
Hutchinson also feels like a smart shout. Young, brave, direct — he doesn’t disappear in games. If we can beat Brentford and West Ham to him, even better. Fellows feels like more of a backup option, but you need those too.
As for Jack Harrison, I’m a bit torn. He gave everything last season, no question, and if we can get him on a cut-price deal to boost squad depth, fine. But he’s not the long-term answer for a starting role.
Moyes clearly has a plan, and it’s a refreshing change to see us working early. Let’s just hope we can move fast enough before others swoop in. Kubo would make a real statement and show that Everton are back to aiming higher, not just surviving.
