Everton manager David Moyes has hinted that the club could look to sign players from the Championship as they prepare for life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees are leaving Goodison Park for their new stadium, and they are desperate to hit the ground running when the new season starts.

Moyes was at the Club World Cup to scout for players, and while the South American clubs impressed him, he remains open to doing business in the Championship.

“There are hundreds who are playing who are trying to get to the top level, and a lot of them can,” the Toffees boss told The Athletic.

“Look at Morgan Rogers (who signed for Aston Villa from Middlesbrough), or Adam Wharton, who went from Blackburn to Crystal Palace.

“For them to be plucked out, both of them going on to be England internationals, it would be unbelievably naive to think it is not possible, because part of our job is to try to look to see what’s on your doorstep if we can.”

The aforementioned duo have taken the top-flight by storm after joining from the Championship, and Everton could do with similar deals as they need to be shrewd in their spending this summer.

Ollie Watkins and Bryan Mbeumo are other examples of players who have impressed in the Premier League after spending time in the second tier.

The former Brentford forwards have established themselves as two of the best goalscorers in the land in recent campaigns.

However, there are plenty of others who struggled with the quality of the top-flight after blowing opposition out of the water in the Championship.

Moyes and Everton must get things right if they opt to sign players from the division.

They have completed the signings of French striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal and Irish goalkeeper Mark Travers from Bournemouth.

Argentine attacker Charly Alcaraz has signed permanently after his impressive loan spell last season.

The Merseyside club are also closing in on a move for Bayern Munich left-back Adam Aznou and more signings are expected in the coming weeks.
