Everton are looking for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Jordan Pickford and have set their sights on Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers (Sky Sports News).

The Toffees are in the market for a goalkeeper following the departures of Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia.

Travers struggled to break into the Bournemouth starting line-up with Neto and Kepa Arrizabalaga usurping his position at different points, forcing him to head out on loans.

The 26-year-old went on loan to the Championship with Middlesbrough in January after struggling to take the starting berth from Arrizabalaga last term.

His short stint with Boro was successful as kept four clean sheets in 17 appearances, helping the team to finish in tenth place.

Travers will be looking for a stomping ground where he can establish himself as the first-choice stopper.

It is debatable whether Everton is the right destination for him, given that Jordan Pickford is the established number one.

The England international has started all 38 Premier League games for Everton in consecutive seasons.

Travers, who has won four caps for the Republic of Ireland, may think twice before a move to Merseyside as Pickford is unlikely to be dropped for him.

He scored 11 goals and contributed four assists in a breakthrough season in La Liga.

After losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer as a free agent, they needed to fill the gaping hole and turned to the promising 22-year-old Frenchman.

Barry will compete with Beto for a starting slot as the Toffees eye a top-half finish next term after finishing in 13th place this season.
