WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls just a short time ago.
The 18-year-old joins Everton in a bid to get regular game time to further her development. Watson made three appearances for parent club Manchester United in the first half of the season but she needs more consistent minutes to continue her growth.
Watson joined Manchester United from Rangers in summer 2023, however, she sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury just a month into her career with The Red Devils. The midfielder spent last season in rehabilitation but has since returned to full fitness and she has been able to get limited minutes under her belt. She will now be hoping to show her qualities with Everton in the second half of this season.
After signing on at Walton Hall Park, Watson said “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. I’ve really enjoyed my first day here, getting to meet everyone, getting to know the girls and having a look around the facility. I’m really excited.
“I can see everyone has really close connections and there’s that family feel. That’s definitely something I love about a football club. It’s got to be about connections; about trusting each other. I can 100-percent say that with my short time at Everton so far, I can definitely see the family feel of the Club and I love it.
“You can see the young players do get opportunities and get a chance to play. I’ve heard really great things about Brian [Sørensen] and after listening to the Club and the way we play, I definitely think it’s a place that will really suit me and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Watson is Everton’s third signing of the January transfer window. Further additions are expected to be made by The Blue Girls before the window closes.
