After a difficult week on and off the pitch, Chelsea are bidding to sign off for the international break on a high as they face Everton in a crucial Premier League fixture this evening. The Blues have suffered three straight defeats in the space of ten days, losing ground in the top-four battle and crashing out of the Champions League in rather humiliating fashion at the last-16 stage.
Additionally, Chelsea have lost captain Reece James to injury, while Enzo Fernandez has raised speculation about his future by hinting at a summer exit. Liam Rosenior's side now pay their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium hoping to get back on track.
Everton, meanwhile, have picked up more points away from home so far this season but did beat Burnley in their most recent match here before losing to Arsenal in London. European qualification remains a possibility for the Toffees, currently a dark-horse in the Champions League battle, a win this evening would move them to within two points of Chelsea. England’s top flight saw the Blues, Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle all crash out of Europe’s elite competition across Tuesday and Wednesday.
