Ewen Jaouen has joined Premier League side Newcastle from Stade de Reims for €28.5 million, setting a new Ligue 2 transfer record. The 20-year-old becomes the most expensive player in the division's history.
The move was completed on Wednesday and includes a four-year contract, according to Le Progres.
A France youth international, Jaouen kept 15 clean sheets in 34 appearances for Reims this season. The Guingamp academy graduate said he was delighted to become a Newcastle player.
At Newcastle he will compete with 34-year-old Nick Pope.
Reims now hold the top three spots for Ligue 2 sales. They sold Valentin Atangana to Al-Ahli for €25 million last summer, and Patrick Zabi to Paris FC for the same fee this winter.
