Chelsea aren’t done there and they are trying to close deals for both Simons and Alejandro Garnacho before the end of the window.

Chelsea planning to offer contract to Xavi Simons until 2031

The Blues have been locked in negotiations with Leipzig for a number of weeks, but are yet to make an official offer for Simons.

Simons only wants to join Chelsea, with Leipzig thought to want a total package of £60m, whilst the idea of including Christopher Nkunku in the deal was also discussed.

Chelsea are hoping to agree a deal worth around £50m for Simons, whilst Tottenham reportedly made an enquiry to see if a deal was possible.

The Blues will look to complete the deal once Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have both left, and Plettenberg has provided an update.

He took to X.com and said:

“Exclusive detail: Chelsea are planning a contract until 2031 for #Xavi Simons.

“Personal terms are verbally agreed, with written details set to be finalised next week. Concrete negotiations between Leipzig and Chelsea are scheduled after the Bayern match today.

“Offloads of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson will be required. #CFC”

Jackson is a key sale Chelsea need to make in order to get new signings through the door, and he’s attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Aston Villa are reportedly pushing hard for Jackson, whilst Newcastle and Bayern Munich are believed to be in the race.

Chelsea have set their asking price at £80m, but they are unlikely to get that fee, whilst they’ve also opened the doors to a loan, if they receive a large loan fee, and the deal includes an obligation to buy.
