Chelsea are keeping tabs on a striker who has struggled a little in the Premier League this season, in a rather strange story.

Here’s a transfer story that Chelsea fans really won’t want to see – the Blues are being linked with interest in Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade.

It seems a crazy and unbelievable story – Woltemade only joined the Mapgies last summer, and has really struggled there. It would make no sense for us to go for him now. But our writer Simon Phillips says on his Substack that the Blues “sense an opportunity to sign him”, an attacker they were watching back when he was at Stuttgart.

Woltemade and Delap could both look for fresh starts

There is also interest from Newcastle in Liam Delap, our own struggling striker. Perhaps some kind of deal can be arranged where they swap clubs and we see if they can each do better in a new environment. It’s referred to as a potential “favour for favour” deal in the article.

Phillips’ “top source” has confirmed that Woltemade’s situation is one we are monitoring for this summer. We don’t think it would be one that goes down too well with the fanbase.

In other news…

Chelsea are keen to add a central defender in the summer, one who is ready to start immediately.

Despite these plans to sign a new defender, Chelsea won’t be letting Josh Acheampong go anywhere, according to the latest reports.
