News of Benjamin Sesko inching closer to a move to Manchester United had just broken when another blockbuster transfer update emerged.
Fans were delighted to learn that Newcastle had admitted defeat and INEOS had readied plans to unveil the Slovenian before the Fiorentina game.
That was not all as The Peoples Person relayed the Red Devils’ interest in Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove Albion.
A deal for the Cameroonian will be difficult to pull off due to the costs involved and the fact that the Seagulls do not want to lose the 21-year-old this summer.
Reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has echoed along similar lines but has added that the midfielder, himself, has not closed the doors to a switch to Old Trafford.
With a little over three weeks left, it will not be easy to change Brighton’s mind while also lowering their valuation, but the Cameroon international’s desire could be a gamechanger.
As seen from all of INEOS’ recent dealings, they have not got involved until they have concrete information that a target is hellbent on joining them. And the Carlos Baleba deal might be similar.
“Despite Brighton not wanting to sell Carlos Baleba, the player’s camp did NOT say no to Manchester United. Baleba didn’t close the door,” Romano explained on his Youtube Channel.
The Italian further went on to reveal that the Brighton ace is considered the perfect midfield addition by Ruben Amorim.
The United head coach has made no secret of his desire to bring in players with more intensity, which explains why the team has looked so much better both with and without the ball this pre-season.
“Carlos Baleba is the dream midfield target for Ruben Amorim.
“In Ruben Amorim’s first few meetings as head coach, he emphasised to the board that the squad needs players with ‘intensity’ – Carlos Baleba fits that perfectly.
“All parties involved are aware that this deal is not easy with only 23 days left of the window.”
INEOS might need to get outgoings going in order to pull off this deal. Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho’s sales could play a pivotal role in getting a deal across the finish line.
Not to forget, the 20-time English league champions also need a new goalkeeper before the season commences.
