The Blues were quiet in January, but that’s not expected to be the case in the summer with a number of positions in the squad needing to be addressed.

Chelsea are said to still be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s believed they also want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Fabrizio Romano update on Valentin Barco

Midfield is thought to be a priority with the Blues reportedly keen to ease the burden on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

However, there are now major doubts over the future of the World Cup winner, with Liam Rosenior confirming Fernandez will be suspended for the next two games due to his comments during the international break.

Chelsea have been linked with both Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton, although there’s likely to be fierce competition for both players.

Barco is another player who’s been linked with Chelsea, and reports in Argentina had suggested it was a done deal, but Romano has now provided an update.

“Chelsea are closely monitoring the impact of Valentin Barco,” he told his YouTube channel.

“Is not a done deal or completed between Chelsea and Strasbourg. But Chelsea are considering the possibility to sign Valentin Barco.

“They are controlling the situation. It’s not something 100% closed or decided yet, but for sure, it’s a strong possibility for Barco to become a new Chelsea player.”

Pastore believes Fernandez hasn’t done anything wrong, and this decision is unlikely to help persuade the 25-year-old that Stamford Bridge is the right place for his future.
