Leeds United’s outstanding festive surge has been recognised by the Premier League, with Daniel Farke shortlisted for Manager of the Month and Dominic Calvert-Lewin nominated for both Player of the Month and Goal of the Month.

The Whites swept through December unbeaten, defeating Chelsea and Crystal Palace in emphatic fashion and producing eye-catching performances in draws with Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland, as the side’s form lifted the club away from the relegation places and back into the fight for Premier League survival.

Farke shortlisted after dramatic turnaround

Daniel Farke has been named on the four-man shortlist for December’s Premier League Manager of the Month award following a month that proved pivotal in Leeds’ campaign.

The German entered December under real pressure, with Leeds having suffered four consecutive defeats and facing a daunting run of fixtures. What followed, however, was a dramatic change in fortunes.

Leeds went unbeaten throughout the entire month, producing a series of statement performances. A commanding 3-1 home victory over Chelsea was followed by a superb 4-1 win against Crystal Palace, while hard-earned draws against Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland showcased the side’s growing resilience and tactical maturity.

Those results, driven by a newfound attacking edge and renewed defensive solidity, have lifted Leeds clear of the bottom three and firmly back into the battle for Premier League safety.

Farke now goes head-to-head with Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Unai Emery (Aston Villa) for the monthly accolade.

Calvert-Lewin leads December charts

At the heart of Leeds’ resurgence has been Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose red-hot form has earned him a nomination for Premier League Player of the Month.

The striker outscored every other player in the division in December, producing his most prolific run in five years. He found the net in six successive matches, a sequence that underlined both his sharpness and his importance to Farke’s side.

His goals proved decisive in the wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace and ensured Leeds took valuable points from draws with Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland.

Calvert-Lewin’s remarkable streak was capped by a beautifully worked team goal at the Stadium of Light, finishing a flowing 12-pass move to secure a 1-1 draw with Sunderland - a moment that symbolised Leeds’ new-found confidence and cohesion.

He faces strong competition for the Player of the Month award from Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) and Harry Wilson (Fulham).

Team goal earns nomination

That strike against Sunderland has also been recognised with a nomination for Premier League Goal of the Month, with Calvert-Lewin once again representing the Whites on a prestigious shortlist.

The move - built patiently from the back before being clinically finished by the striker – has been selected alongside goals from:

  • Phil Foden (Fulham 4-5 Manchester City)
  • Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle 2-1 Burnley)
  • Harry Wilson (Fulham 1-2 Crystal Palace)
  • Ibrahim Sangaré (Nottingham Forest 3-0 Spurs)
  • Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd 4-4 AFC Bournemouth)
  • Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa 2-1 Man Utd)
  • Patrick Dorgu (Man Utd 1-0 Newcastle)
