FC Porto are moving to lock in their top prospects, with further renewals to follow the new deal for 18-year-old creative midfielder Tiago Silva earlier this week, O Jogo reports. Bernardo Lima, Yoan Pereira, André Miranda and Mateus Mide are among those in line for extensions.
Led by André Villas-Boas, the hierarchy is pushing to make homegrown talent a pillar of the project. The quartet have been contacted, and talks are said to be well advanced.
Each is expected to receive a contract covering a further five seasons, with progressive release clauses to deter interest from bigger clubs. Tiago Silva set the template, his clause starts at €25 million and can rise to €35 million.
Bernardo Lima, Mateus Mide and Yoan Pereira are under-17 world champions and have impressed at Olival.
Miranda, a winger, earned a debut under Francesco Farioli, playing six minutes in the win over Arouca, then sustaining an injury that is likely to keep him out for a while.
In January, Villas-Boas signalled a wish to secure the academy’s pearls, stressing the club must support their development and that renewals often provide that comfort. He noted five under-17 world champions are advancing, some already with the B team, and the hope is they reach the senior side.
