Félix Torres has exited the World Cup after Ecuador lost 2-0 to Mexico in the second phase. The centre-back is owned by Corinthians and is on loan at Internacional until the end of 2026.
According to Meu Timao, he featured only sparingly under head coach Sebastián Beccacece, with Joel Ordoñez, Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho in strong form as Europe-based starters.
Torres came on in the 85th minute against Germany in the final group match, helping protect a 2-1 victory that sealed progression to the knockouts. Across the tournament he played 18 minutes and recorded one defensive action.
This was his second World Cup, having also appeared in 2022. In Qatar he started all three games while at Santos Laguna of Mexico, though Ecuador went out in the group stage in third behind the hosts, Netherlands and Senegal.
He joined Corinthians in 2024 from the Mexican club but did not establish himself as a first-choice pick. He made 80 appearances and contributed to the 2025 Paulistão and Copa do Brasil title campaigns.
Short of opportunities, he moved to Internacional on loan at the start of this year and had been a regular until the World Cup pause, playing 19 times. The agreement includes an option to buy on undisclosed terms, and his wages are shared between the clubs, with his Corinthians contract running to the end of 2027.
