Fernandinho has announced his retirement from football at the age of 40.
The Brazilian midfielder enjoyed a glittering career that included nine trophy-laden seasons at City that saw him become a Club legend.
And he has now confirmed that he has now called time on his playing days.
Fernandinho moved to the Etihad Stadium in June 2013 and became a key figure for Manuel Pellegrini and then Pep Guardiola.
Making 383 appearances for City and scoring 26 goals, he won 13 trophies with the Blues – five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, six League Cups and the Charity Shield.
He also won 53 caps for Brazil and returned to play in his homeland after leaving City in 2022, playing for Athletico Paranaense.

Fernandinho’s career began more than two decades earlier at the same club in 2002 before he moved to Shakhtar Donetsk three years later.
After eight years in Ukraine, director of football Txiki Begiristain brought him to City, a decision the Spaniard recently described as one of best ever signings.
The midfielder helped us to the Premier League title in his first season and the arrival of Guardiola arguably took his game to another level.
His football intelligence made him a perfect player at the heart of our midfield and, as a natural leader on and off the pitch, Fernandinho was the obvious choice to replace David Silva as captain following his departure in 2020.
You can watch his final months in Manchester on CITY+ in the fabulous City Studios documentary Fernandinho: The Last Game which builds to his last ever game.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to wish Fernandinho all the best in his retirement and to thank him once more for the incredible contribution he made to our football club during his nine years at the club.
