Corinthians beat Barra 1-0 in the Copa do Brasil, but concern centres on forward Kayke. He left in the first half with pain in his left knee, and Fernando Diniz urged caution while assessments continue.

According to Meu Timao, the incident came on 15 minutes after he advanced down the left and crossed. He slipped on the Ressacada turf, fell out of play, called for treatment and was carried off on a stretcher in tears.

Diniz said preliminary checks had been carried out, but it was too early to draw conclusions. The club are awaiting imaging tests and he hopes the injury is not serious.

It was the number 31’s fifth straight start since Diniz arrived. On the bench he was consoled by team-mates, received treatment to his left knee, then headed for the dressing room. Vitinho came on in his place.

Kayke could now join the medical department alongside Memphis Depay and Gui Negão. Depay is recovering from a muscle injury in the anterior part of his right thigh, while the Brazilian centre-forward is out with a grade 2 strain to the posterior muscle in the same region.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza, defender João Pedro Tchoca, full-back Hugo Farias and midfielder Charles also remain sidelined with physical issues.

With Kayke’s availability uncertain, Corinthians are preparing for Sunday’s meeting with Vasco da Gama at 16:00. The match, initially scheduled for Neo Química Arena, is the 13th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
