Flamengo have sacked head coach Filipe Luís in the early hours of Tuesday, ending his spell in charge. The decision closes a trophy-laden tenure that delivered seven titles.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he leaves after 101 matches, recording 64 wins, 22 draws and 15 defeats, a 70% return. He lifted the Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil, Carioca, Brasileirão, Libertadores, Derby das Américas and Challenger Cup.
Filipe Luís took charge in September 2024 following the dismissal of Tite. Having extended his deal through December 2027, he was taken by surprise by the decision.
After a historic 2025, results sagged at the start of 2026. Runners-up finishes in the Supercopa do Brasil and Recopa Sul-Americana, combined with a strained relationship with president Bap, culminated in his exit.
Flamengo had already lined up Leonardo Jardim as successor, with the Portuguese expected to arrive in Rio on Tuesday to sign a two-year contract.
He already has a pencilled debut, with Flamengo to face Fluminense at 18:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Carioca final this Sunday.
