Niclas Fullkrug is set to return to West Ham after a disappointing six-month loan at Milan that yielded just one goal. The 33-year-old now faces an uncertain future following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship, leaving him available for around three million euros.

Il Tirreno reports that Fiorentina are considering a move, with a striker likely to be sought should Roberto Piccoli depart this summer.

Venezia have also registered interest and have been in contact with Fullkrug’s agency Roof for several weeks, attempting to convince him to remain in Italy.

For Fiorentina, Fullkrug would offer experience and a physical presence at a modest cost. While his Milan stint underwhelmed, his earlier form, notably for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, showed he can deliver when fit and in rhythm.

New coach Fabio Grosso must first decide whether the German fits his attacking plans before any approach is formalised. West Ham’s relegation ensures they will be willing to listen to offers, simplifying the economics for interested clubs.
