Fiorentina’s Beltran reveals failed Roma move | OneFootball

Argentine striker Lucas Beltran discussed his failed move to Roma in the summer of 2023.

In an interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio, Beltran recounted the way he’d been in talks with Roma before his decision to move to Fiorentina from River Plate.

“Before coming to Fiorentina, Dybala called me: ‘Mourinho told me he wants you at Roma’,” he said.

“The Giallorossi sporting director had already called me, but I had spoken first with Fiorentina and its directors.”

“When Dybala contacted me, I was about to make a decision. He asked me what I thought, we talked. I called him back to tell him that I had given my word to Fiorentina, that they had moved first and that I felt they were more convinced: I know they were reaching an agreement with River Plate.”

“Fiorentina were more determined, Roma less so: I explained to Paulo that I preferred a club that really wanted me because it was an important step in my career.”
