Anthony Caci has rejoined Mainz team training after a serious hamstring injury sustained in late September, head coach Urs Fischer said ahead of the Conference League last-16 second leg against Sigma Olomouc. The defender will not be ready for the tie.

According to BuLi News, Fischer reported the squad had recovered well and were ready, adding Caci completed his first full group session, a positive step in his comeback.

Reflecting on the first meeting, he noted Mainz allowed few chances and want to reproduce that platform while sharpening areas that still need improvement.

Fischer added that William Bøving has earned the right to start, praising his relentless work in training and saying it is time to reward that effort.

Goalkeeper Daniel Batz said the side carry the confidence needed to advance after Sunday’s win over Bremen and want to deliver a performance that pleases the fans.
