Overtaking the Norwegians for top spot is practically impossible: Italy would need to win by nine goals.
However, Gattuso’s side will be eager to redeem the 3-0 defeat suffered in Oslo earlier in the campaign.
Barella returns from suspension to anchor the midfield alongside Frattesi, who replaces Tonali, while Bastoni will reprise his usual Inter role on the left of a back three.
Dimarco will start at wing-back, and Esposito partners Mateo Retegui in attack.
Indeed, a significant opportunity for the young forward to impress in his home stadium.
Probable Italy (3-5-2): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Bastoni; Politano, Barella, Locatelli, Frattesi, Dimarco; Retegui, Esposito. Coach: Gattuso.
