Leeds United are preparing a major Elland Road redevelopment to create a modern 53,000-capacity home, including a full North Stand rebuild and upgrades to the West Stand. The club aims to future proof the stadium while preserving its intimidating LS11 atmosphere, and supporters have set out five priorities as work begins.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, a Facebook call-out drew hundreds of responses, with fans stressing it is not only about seat numbers but the soul of the ground.

Top of the list is capacity that truly meets demand, with a long season-ticket waiting list. Many view 53,000 as a starting point so the next generation can get through the turnstiles.

Supporters also want 21st-century connectivity, namely robust Wi-Fi and a reliable mobile signal to check scores, watch replays and message friends at half-time.

Comfort matters too. Cramped rows and tight concourses should give way to more leg room and better circulation.

Safe standing features strongly, with calls for rail seating and a dedicated area for those who prefer to stand and sing without blocking others’ views.

Transport is the other major concern, especially gridlock around Armley Gyratory and evening kick-offs. Suggestions range from enhanced shuttle services and a tramline to a direct link from the main railway station, plus improved access such as a bridge over Elland Road.
