The madness started with two matches kicking off at 7pm. Fortaleza extended their comeback to escape the relegation zone by beating Corinthians.

Threatened with relegation, Vitória returned to the drop zone after being punished by Red Bull Bragantino.

The sequence saw Neymar putting Santos in a good position by scoring three times against Juventude.

Bahia did what was expected of them to keep their chances alive for a direct spot in the Libertadores.

And, at the same time as the match in Salvador, São Paulo left Inter in a dramatic situation.

The day ended with Palmeiras doing their part. But Flamengo beat Ceará to confirm their Brasileirão title.

The big battle at the top is for fifth place – which will secure the last direct spot in the Libertadores group stage via the Brasileirão.

Botafogo will have (this Thursday) the chance to reclaim that position against Cruzeiro.

Fluminense and Bahia – who will face each other in the final round – are the other contenders.

São Paulo is in a good position to secure eighth place and then hope for Cruzeiro or Fluminense to win the Copa do Brasil. That would guarantee them a spot in the second preliminary phase of the Libertadores.

Meanwhile, the battle to escape the relegation zone was intense. Vitória and Internacional will not depend solely on themselves. Atlético can already consider themselves safe due to their goal difference over Vitória.
