Flamengo have opted to keep midfielder Evertton Araújo, 22, curbing Grêmio’s interest after Filipe Luís renewed his deal with the Rio club.
Luís Castro had identified Evertton as an early target for Grêmio. According to GE, Flamengo view him as important for the season and he should gain more minutes, offering immediate cover given Allan’s possible departure.
Evertton made 36 appearances in 2025. Flamengo hold 70 percent of his economic rights, with Volta Redonda retaining the remaining 30 percent. His contract with the reigning Brasileirão and Libertadores champions runs until December 2028.
Grêmio’s midfield options include Arthur, Dodi, Cuéllar and Edenilson, with Noriega also able to play at centre-back.
Villasanti is recovering from injury and is not expected back until the end of the first half of 2026. Youngster Tiaguinho has been promoted for the start of the season.
