Flamengo lifted the Campeonato Carioca at the Maracanã on Sunday, earning R$ 10 million after edging Fluminense on penalties. The runners-up receive R$ 5.5 million.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Rio state competition has reinstated cash awards, after 2025 offered no payout even with Flamengo as champions.
The final finished 0-0 in normal time, so it went to a shootout. Keeper Rossi denied Guga and Otávio, while only Luiz Araújo failed to convert for Flamengo.
Earlier this season, finishing second in the Supercopa Rei against Corinthians brought Flamengo R$ 6.35 million. The runners-up finish in the Recopa Sul-Americana against Lanús, of Argentina, was worth R$ 4.6 million.
Flamengo now face Cruzeiro at the Maracanã on Wednesday, 11, at 21:30 Brasília time, in the fifth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
