According to Globo.com, Flamengo are finalising plans for the World Cup pause, with an overseas camp and at least one friendly about 10 days before matches resume on 22 July. The outline is not sealed, but it is viewed as the likeliest scenario.

The trip was requested by Leonardo Jardim's staff, who also considered the Algarve in Portugal and Uruguay. With little time to organise and logistical hurdles, Argentina has emerged as the favourite to host the squad.

The expectation is to travel for a preparation block, then return to Brazil for friendlies. A proposal for a tournament involving other teams is on the table. The World Cup runs from 11 June to 19 July.

The first phase of the break will be holidays. Time off has not yet been set, beginning after the last game, against Coritiba at the Maracanã on 30 May, and is expected to last around 15 days. Training will then resume at the Ninho do Urubu.

Flamengo have at least 12 players in preliminary World Cup lists. For Brazil there are seven, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz, Lucas Paquetá, Pedro and Samuel Lino. Varela, Arrascaeta and De la Cruz are in Uruguay's, with Carrascal for Colombia and Plata for Ecuador.

With the season starting earlier, the club did not have 30 days of leave between 2025 and 2026. The pause should help make up that rest, and Jardim also intends to assess more academy talent during the window.
