According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have asked about former Liverpool forward Darwim Núñez, who is currently with a Saudi club, as they step up the search for a new centre-forward for Filipe Luís.
The move is viewed as unviable. The striker is paid 16 million euros, R$ 99 million, a year, which would translate to roughly R$ 8 million a month for Flamengo, and he is not keen on returning to South America.
Before sounding out Núñez, the club assessed options such as Kaio Jorge at Cruzeiro and Marcos Leonardo at Al Hilal.
In January 2026, Flamengo submitted an offer for Kaio Jorge but failed to reach financial terms with Cruzeiro. They also attempted to sign Richarlison, now at Tottenham, though he does not want to return to Brazil.
Filipe Luís is targeting a striker with different characteristics to Pedro to compete for the number nine role, and after the outlay on Lucas Paquetá the club do not plan extravagant moves in the market.
Flamengo face Sampaio Corrêa on Saturday in the sixth round of the Campeonato Carioca, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã. The team are in a delicate situation in the State competition.
