According to Globo.com, Flamengo do not plan to open talks on a new deal for Everton Cebolinha, in his final contract year, and he could leave in the mid-year window if a bid arrives.
This may be a move to avoid losing their entire outlay. Flamengo paid €16 million, R$ 87 million at the time, to sign him in 2022, and as things stand he would go for free in December.
Club figures say he wanted to leave last year and the hierarchy believe he plans to finish his cycle when his contract ends, so they are not pursuing a renewal. After the Recopa Sul-Americana, he said he thought this would be his final season and that he had not been approached, while remaining open to talks.
Cruzeiro showed interest at the start of the year, a move driven by Tite, the club’s former coach. In April last year, Cebolinha said he wanted to return to Grêmio in the near future.
There are no offers, but he has told confidants he would also like to leave Brazil if a chance arises. Clubs at home and abroad have made enquiries about his situation.
Leonardo Jardim counts on him and has praised the number 11, yet his minutes have dipped since the coach arrived, with five games yielding one start, two cameos and two absences. Overall this season he has 15 appearances, three goals and one assist.
