According to Globo.com, Pulgar is being prepared to return next week when Flamengo face Estudiantes in the Copa Libertadores group stage. The Chilean has missed the last six matches and remains suspended in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Sent off in the defeat to Red Bull Bragantino on the second of April, he received a four-match ban from the STJD. He has served two, against Santos and Bahia, and will also sit out Atlético-MG and Vasco.

He could have featured against Vitória in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday but was unavailable because of a right shoulder injury, having yet to rejoin full training. He is currently doing field work with the physiotherapy team and is expected to resume with the squad in the coming days.

Pulgar damaged the acromioclavicular joint in his right shoulder during the Bragantino match. His recovery is progressing, and Flamengo are using his league suspension to ensure he returns fully fit. The expectation is for him to be ready by next Wednesday, when the team face Estudiantes in Buenos Aires at 21:30.

Competition for his place has intensified. In his absence, Evertton Araújo has impressed under Jardim, while Paquetá, De la Cruz, Saúl and Jorginho are further midfield options.
