Flamengo ‘to open’ talks over new deal for Léo Pereira

Ângelo Furtado reports that Flamengo are ‘to open’ talks over a new contract for Léo Pereira after his standout season, including a proposal running to 2028, potentially 2029, with a salary increase if agreed.

Pereira is already contracted until 2027, and the club want to protect themselves against possible European approaches after the 2026 World Cup.

A mainstay for Flamengo, he drew the attention of Carlo Ancelotti and was called up by Brazil during the most recent international window.

He started against France and Croatia, and is hoping to make the final World Cup squad, which is due to be announced on 18 May.

Flamengo host Independiente Medellín of Colombia in the Copa Libertadores group stage on Thursday, 16, in the second round, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
