Flamengo ‘to prefer’ Portugal for mid-season camp | OneFootball

Flamengo are planning a mid-season camp during the World Cup break, with Portugal considered the leading option, while potential opponents are still being assessed.

According to Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, club staff have recently travelled to Portugal to inspect training facilities, and Argentina and Uruguay remain under consideration as alternative bases.

Players will be given a few days off before preparations begin, scheduled to take place during the World Cup. The tournament starts on 11 June, with at least nine of the club’s players called up.

So far, Brazil have called Danilo, Alex Sandro, Lucas Paquetá and Léo Pereira, and Ecuador have summoned Gonzalo Plata. Uruguay are expected to select Varela, De La Cruz and Arrascaeta, while Carrascal is expected to join Colombia.

Before the camp, Flamengo play in the Libertadores. On Tuesday 26, they face Cusco, of Peru, at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã in the final round of the group stage.
