Flamengo without five for São Paulo opener as Arrascaeta and Jorginho travel

Reigning champions Flamengo open their 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro campaign against São Paulo on Wednesday, but face five confirmed absences and two selection omissions.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo will be without Luiz Araújo (muscle pain), Danilo (knee), Ayrton Lucas (pubalgia), Saúl (ankle) and De la Cruz (knee).

Allan and Michael are not included in the matchday squad by technical choice of head coach Filipe Luís.

Arrascaeta and Jorginho have been prepared specifically for the opener and have travelled with the squad to São Paulo. The pair have yet to feature for the first team in 2026.

Kick-off is at 21:30, Brasília time, on Wednesday 28 at Morumbis in the first round of the competition.
