The Real Madrid presidential debate is in full swing ahead of the vote on Sunday, with Florentino Perez and Enrique Riquelme making their cases to the club’s members. And after the latter promised to sign Erling Haaland if he was elected, the former has now stake his own claim 24 hours later.
On Wednesday, Perez confirmed that Real Madrid would sign Ibrahima Konate if he was re-elected to the position he has held since 2009, and one day on, he has now revealed his second summer addition: Denzel Dumfries. An agreement for the Inter defender has already been completed, with a deal to be confirmed as early as next week.

But that’s not all, because Perez also revealed that he intends to submit a club-record bid for a new striker in the days after the presidential vote, as he stated on Horizonte (via Diario AS).
“Mourinho and Konaté are coming… and now I say Dumfries. A very good right-back. But we’re going to have good players in other positions. I’m going to make an offer to a Champions League club soon, on Tuesday, which will be the biggest payment Real Madrid would have made for a player in their history, €150m at least. It’s not Doku and it’s not Haaland, it’s not Kane… He plays up as a midfielder. And he is not from the Premier League. He’s a total Galactic. But first we will talk to the club, we will not do what this man has done.”

Real Madrid are sure to be enticed by Perez’s comments, especially when considering his promise 26 years ago to poach Luis Figo from arch rivals Barcelona. Talk will now begin regarding who the mystery player could be, but at that price, it would likely be one of the best midfielders in the world that he’s targeting – as such, there could be speculation surrounding the likes of Vitinha, Joao Neves or Declan Rice in the coming days.
