Vinicius Jr. remains central to Real Madrid’s long-term plans despite growing criticism from the Santiago Bernabeu crowd this season.

The Brazilian forward has faced increased scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly after the reaction from fans during the clash against Deportivo Alaves. 

The tension around his performances has naturally brought his contract situation into sharper focus, turning his renewal into one of the key talking points around the club.

Internally, however, the position is very different from what is being heard in the stands.

Perez to handle the matter personally

According to MARCA, club president Florentino Perez has taken a strong position on the matter. 

He has made it clear that Vinicius is not just another player in the squad, but a key asset for both the present and the future.

More importantly, the president intends to personally oversee the renewal process, showing how important the player is within the club’s structure.

Despite the inconsistency shown this season, there is no doubt at the board level about Vinicius’ ability or importance to the project.

The president’s message has been direct and decisive when concerns about the player have been raised – “That’s my business; leave it to me.”

A lot depends on a new manager

Beyond the contract situation, Real Madrid are already looking ahead to next season with the understanding that changes are needed. 

After falling short in major competitions, there is a growing acceptance that the squad requires better direction and management.

As part of that reset, the club is expected to bring in a manager capable of maximising the potential of a squad filled with elite talent, and Vinicius remains central to that vision.

His relationship with Perez has been strong since his arrival, built not just on football but also on the president’s public support during difficult moments. 

Now, Perez remains convinced that Vinicius can return to the level that made him decisive and with that, a renewal can be achieved.
