Academy graduate Foden has signed a new four-year deal with City, one that commits the attacking midfielder to the Etihad until the summer of 2030.

Despite still only being 26, the England international is now one of the most long serving and experienced members of the City squad, having helped the Club attain an astonishing 20 major honours in his senior career to date.

For Foden and his City colleagues there is a new figure at the managerial helm this term with Maresca having been appointed in succession to Pep Guardiola earlier this month.

Maresca, of course, is no stranger to City, having enjoyed two hugely successful previous spells at the Club as firstly our Elite Development Squad Lead Coach before then being assistant coach under Guardiola during the 2022/23 Treble season.

He subsequently went on to achieve huge success as manager, firstly at Leicester City and then Chelsea.

And for Foden, the chance to work once again under the highly respected Italian is a prospect he is relishing.

“So excited. Obviously, I’ve had Enzo before. When we had him in the Treble season, he was brilliant,” Foden said.

“His attention to detail, the small things that make a big difference, and even training with him at the moment, you can tell how good of a coach he is.

“I’m really excited to play under him and see where it goes.

“He’s so nice. He’s down to earth. He’s someone that you can go to and talk about anything to him, and he would help you out.

“Even if you want to work on things to get better, he’ll do one-on-one sessions with you after training.

“And that’s something he did with me as well when he was here. I did small finishing drills with him and things like that, and he really grew my game.

“So, like I said, I’m looking forward to starting a new season with him and we know each other really well. So that’s a good thing as well.

“[His style of football is] Very exciting. You can tell by the first few sessions that I’ve done with him.

“The way he likes to play out from the back and play a lot of possession-based [football], and it suits my game really well.

“I’m looking forward to that and hopefully it can help my game go to the next stage.”
