Vendée Fontenay Foot were beaten 0-4 by PSG in the Coupe de France, but the National 3 club embraced every moment at a packed La Beaujoire.

According to L'Équipe, around 20 coaches ferried fans the 115 kilometres from Fontenay-le-Comte to Nantes, with travel-and-scarf packages priced at 22 euros. A giant 30-metre tifo saluted coach Loïc Lambert and hailed his side as magical.

Club president Laurent Mompert had spoken of the emotion of entering La Beaujoire, a mythical venue for many in the Vendée. Families filmed the warm-up, while Nathan Fromaget’s father, sporting the VFF crest on the back of his head, called it the dream draw and hoped the damage would be limited.

Lambert’s players arrived on Friday, trained for 75 minutes at 18:00, and followed a near‑professional matchday plan, from a morning activation and video session to a 18:20 departure, escorted by police for the first time.

The crowd roared early runs from Joey Millimono before Ousmane Dembélé doubled PSG’s lead from the spot on 34 minutes. He was applauded when substituted on 61, and Fontenay chased a consolation late on through Yanis Leriche on 85, Fodé Diawara on 86 and Enzo Renou on 90+2. PSG’s superiority was recognised with a guard of honour for the Vendéens, followed by a deserved lap of the stadium to cap a night they will not forget.
