Former Arsenal boss Eidevall appointed head coach of San Diego Wave | OneFootball

Former Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall has been appointed the head coach of American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave.

Wave FC announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 41-year-old returns to work three months on from leaving his role at former club Arsenal. Eidevall spent more than three years in charge of The Gunners in which he guided the club to back-to-back wins in the Subway Women’s League Cup. Arsenal were also UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finalists during Eidevall’s tenure.

Eidevall takes charge of a San Diego Wave side that finished in 10th place in last season’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Wave FC did have more success in the 2024 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup, beating NJ/NY Gotham FC 1-0 in the final. New boss Eidevall will be tasked with getting more consistent results from the team in 2025.

After being appointed San Diego Wave head coach, Eidevall said “I am honored and proud to be named the head coach of San Diego Wave FC. This is a club with a clear vision for success, both on and off the field, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this talented team by the Leichtman-Levine Family and Camille Ashton.

San Diego Wave begin their preparations for the 2025 campaign next month when their pre-season schedule gets underway.
