Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is close to being appointed as the new manager of Luton Town.

Wilshere has held talks with the League One side after the decision to sack Matt Bloomfield earlier this week. The 33-year-old retired from playing in 2022, aged just 30, following an injury-plagued latter period of his career.

He worked with former club Arsenal as u-18 manager, before a spell as first-team coach at Norwich City last season. Wilshere over saw the final two games of the campaign as interim manager at Norwich, before being overlooked for the permanent position.

According to the BBC, Luton are now prepared to offer Wilshere his first senior role. Positive talks have been held with the former England midfielder, as Luton look to address an alarming decline.

The Hatters have endured back-to-back relegations from the Premier League to League One and have started the 2025/26 season in poor form. Luton are 11th in the table having won just five of their opening 11 games.
