Chelsea used to be among the most desirable jobs for managers – according to one former coach, that’s no longer the case.

Ruud Gullit has said what most Chelsea fans are already well aware of: the job at Stamford Bridge is not nearly as tempting as it used to be, and has pretty much lost its appeal to the very top coaches.
The squad isn’t ready to compete at the top, and those coaches won’t get the control they want to change that.
“Yes [it’s lost its appeal], because any manager would see what I see and say: ‘I need experienced players. I need a Casemiro, a [Aurelien] Tchouameni. I need these types of players in midfield. I need this kind of experience alongside the young talent’. And if you don’t have them, it’s going to be a problem,” the former Blues boss said in quotes picked up by Goal.com.
Instead, Chelsea coaches are told when they’re being interviewed that their power is going to be limited, and that the model will be youngsters with no high wage seniors to keep them in line.
The Blues are going to offer Enzo Fernandez a contract extension to keep him at the club and to try and quiet his agitation to leave the club.
Chelsea are going to be buying as well as selling this summer, and Jonathan Rowe is a name we’re starting to see more and more of.
