Sunderland are in elite company this season.

Monday’s 3-0 win over Burnley maintained the Black Cats' status as the only Premier League side yet to lose at home this term, putting the Stadium of Light alongside some of Europe's strongest venues.

Across UEFA's top five leagues, only a handful of clubs remain unbeaten on home soil in 2025-26. The list includes European champions Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish champions Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Italian champions Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus, with Sunderland the only English team to feature.

The victory also moved Sunderland up to eighth in the Premier League, keeping them in contention for a European place. With 36 points, they are three behind sixth-placed Liverpool.

The match was effectively settled in the first half. In the ninth minute, Habib Diarra's shot deflected off Axel Tuanzebe to give Sunderland the lead. Their second goal came in the 32nd minute when Diarra finished a team move from the right wing, beating Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka.

Chemsdine Talbi added a third late in the game with a strike from 20 yards into the top corner, confirming the win.

The result extends Sunderland’s unbeaten home run to 12 matches - the longest start to a top-flight season at home by a newly promoted side since Nottingham Forest in 1977-78.
