Four for Miedema, Nations League glory for Ouahabi and wins for Scotland and England | OneFootball

Vivianne Miedema grabbed four first half goals as the Netherlands beat South Korea 5-0 in an international friendly.

Already her nation’s record goalscorer, Miedema took her tally to 104 in a devastating display, opening the scoring inside nine minutes.

Number two saw her cut the ball back onto her right foot and fire in at the near post, before rifling home a third from the edge of the area.

And her fourth, which saw Miedema become the first Dutch player to score that many in the first half this century, followed when she met Lynn Wilms’ cross after stealing a yard in the South Korea area.

Ella Peddemors made it five before the break, with our forward brought off just after the hour, with Kerstin Casparij coming on for the final 30 minutes.

Elsewhere, Leila Ouahabi’s Spain also retained their UEFA Nations League crown with a 3-0 aggregate win over Rebecca Knaak’s Germany in Madrid.

The first leg, held in Kaiserslauten, had ended goalless meaning all eyes were on who’d come out on top in Madrid.

Spain started the stronger of the two, with Ann-Katrin Berger making an excellent diving save to deny Alexia Putellas, while Germany’s Nicole Anyomi fired just wide of the post as half-time approached.

Both sides had squandered decent chances for the opener in the first 45, but the deadlock would finally be broken on the hour mark.

Claudia Pina was the scorer, finding the net after a neat one-two with Mariona Caldentey, and two more quickfire goals inside the next 15 minutes would seal it in Madrid.

The first was an exquisite individual effort from Vicki Lopez, who curled home after a jinking run into the Germany box, before Pina added her second and Spain’s third with a vicious effort into the top corner after driving forward from half-way.

The third strike was the pick of the bunch, putting the game to bed in style to ensure Ouahabi’s Spain remain the only side to win the Nations League.

Eartha Cumings, meanwhile, helped Scotland to a 3-2 win over China in an international friendly.

The Scots cruised into a three-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes thanks to a brace from Kirsty Howat and Kirsty Hanson strike, before China pulled one back on the half hour mark.

Howat then had a chance to add a fourth and complete her hat-trick from the penalty spot, but couldn’t convert from 12 yards.

China pulled another back around the hour to set up a nervy finish, but Cumings’ Scotland held on for the win.

Finally, Grace Clinton, Laura Blindkilde Brown and Lauren Hemp were all second half substitutes in England’s 2-0 friendly win over Ghana.

The Lionesses took an early lead through Lucia Kendall’s first senior goal, with England twice hitting the woodwork in search of another at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.

Indeed, the European Champions were dominant, but had to wait until deep into second half stoppage time to add a second.

Alessia Russo fired home to complete the scoring after seeing a close-range effort handled by a Ghana player.
