Four Leicester changes Gary Rowett could make at Portsmouth to bring toughness

Gary Rowett wants greater toughness from Leicester City for a must-win visit to Portsmouth this weekend.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Hamza Choudhury for Ricardo Pereira is one route, favouring pace and bite in tackles. With Caleb Okoli and Ben Nelson out for the season, and Jamaal Lascelles plus Jannik Vestergaard likely to continue, his speed alongside them may help.

Joe Aribo could come in for Harry Winks or Oliver Skipp. Winks is vital for possession, but if that is not bringing results a different profile might be needed. Skipp has looked stronger as the single pivot, and Aribo would add physicality, though his sharpness is in question after limited minutes.

Jordan James for Divine Mukasa feels the obvious tweak, even if James is not at his best as a number 10. The Welshman returned from injury last weekend and may now be ready to start.

James brings greater intensity and energy without the ball, and he knows how to finish. He has been City’s best player. He has to start.

Out wide, Bobby De Cordova-Reid for Stephy Mavididi is another possibility. It may have been wrong to start Mavididi at Swansea after illness, and if he is now fully recovered it might be time to rotate. De Cordova-Reid has impressed off the bench and created City’s best equalising chance.

That looks the only potential change in the front three. Jordan Ayew may be tougher than Patson Daka, but Daka’s pace and pressing is likely to keep his place.
