France have announced that Laurent Bonadei – former assistant to Hervé Renard – is to take over as the women’s national team boss.

Renard, who led the side to a disappointing quarter-final exit at the Olympics to eventual silver medalists Brazil, stepped down following the conclusion of that tournament.

Bonadei worked under Renard as assistant as Saudi Arabia national team boss, before following him to work for the French women’s side.

France have confirmed that Bonadei has signed a new three-year deal to head up Les Bleus.

The European Championship is just around the corner, due to be held in summer 2025 in Switzerland.
