According to L'Équipe, Thursday’s draw, conducted by Pepe, placed Les Bleus in League A’s Group 1. After the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July, France will return to competitive action in this competition. France still do not officially know their future head coach.
Seeded as top seeds after reaching the last edition’s semi-final, which ended 4-5 against Spain, France have landed a demanding section. They will meet Italy again, as in the previous campaign, when Italy won at the Parc des Princes and France replied at San Siro, 3-1 in both games.
Belgium are familiar foes too, after meetings in the 2021 Nations League semi-final, 3-2, the last Euros round of 16, 1-0, and the 2018 World Cup semi-final, 1-0. In the last Nations League group phase, France beat Belgium 2-0 in Lyon and 2-1 in Brussels.
Türkiye are a less frequent opponent. The last meetings came in Euro 2020 qualifying, a 2-0 defeat in Konya then a 1-1 draw at Saint-Denis.
Elsewhere in League A, Group 2 Germany, Netherlands, Serbia, Greece, Group 3 Spain, Croatia, England, Czechia, Group 4 Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Wales.
