France supporters warned to ‘be vigilant’ following altercation ahead of Croatia Nations League clash | OneFootball

According to a report from RMC Sport, several France supporters belonging to the Irrésistibles Français fan group were involved in an altercation on the seafront of Split on Wednesday evening, ahead of Les Bleus‘ UEFA Nations League quarter-final clash against Croatia this evening.A handful of members of the Irrésistibles Français supporter group were sat on the seafront in Split, heading back to their hotel when they were provoked by a group of eight young people dressed in black, asking if they were “French Ultras” before attempting to intimidate the France fans.Hervé Mougin, the president of the supporters’ association, reportedly tried to calm the young men down before receiving a blow from a crutch in the back. They were chased down the street for a few minutes before managing to get away.The French Interior Ministry has reportedly been informed of the incident, as well as the liaison officer to the France team. The Split Police have taken charge of the incident but no complaint has been filed. 300 France supporters are expected to be present at the Poljud Stadion amd have been warned to be vigilant, should the risk of provocation be repeated and to be careful in the vicinity of the stadium before and after the match between France and Croatia.GFFN | George Boxall
