France to face Iraq in the 2026 World Cup group stage

France now know who they will face in the 2026 World Cup group stage. Les Bleus have been drawn in the tournament’s Group I last December with Senegal, Norway and a playoff winners. The latter will be Iraq.
Iraq have defeated Bolivia 2-1 on Tuesday at Monterrey to become the 48th and final team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Iraq have ended a 40-year wait to qualify for FIFA’s showpiece competition, and they will face France for the very first time.
Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus will kick off their 2026 World Cup on Tuesday, 16 June against Senegal at East Rutherford. Six days later, they’ll lock horns with Iraq at Philadelphia before concluding their group stage at Boston against Erling Haaland’s Norway on Friday, 26 June.
