Thomas Frank hailed Dominic Solanke’s efforts after the striker scored a double to secure a comeback draw for Spurs against Manchester City, despite still not being fully fit.
Solanke missed more than five months with an ankle injury before returning this month, and has now scored four goals in his last four games.
The 28-year-old came off late on against City, with the striker telling Sky Sports he had “rolled his ankle a little bit” but insisting he “would be fine”.
Spurs boss Frank also says he is still working his way back to full fitness, but hailed his impact despite that.
“He clearly struggled to run fitness wise,” Frank said.
“We knew before the game it would be a big push to play 90. He’s not there fitness wise where he should be because he’s been out for so long and we’ve, in a way, been a little bit forced to play him.
“I think it’s pretty evident that he’s relatively important for us. Four goals in four games with him being at 70% or 80% of fitness.
“Imagine City playing without Haaland for six months. I think we’ve been quite hard hit with injuries in general. But Dom was excellent.”

Cristian Romero was forced off at half-time of the 2-2 draw, meanwhile, and Frank says it was down to illness.
“Illness,” he explained. “We are assessing him but hopefully he’s fine.
“He struggled through the Frankfurt game as well and pushed through that with a fantastic captain’s performance.
“He struggled a little bit but we hope it’s nothing.”
Frank is also hoping to have Romero’s defensive partner Micky van de Ven, who missed the game through injury, back for the clash with Manchester United next Saturday.
“Cuti, I hope is minor, nothing,” he said. “Micky (van de Ven) we hope is back for Man Utd, and Djed (Spence) is hopefully not too long.”
And ahead of the transfer window deadline on Monday, Frank is not ruling out further additions.
“We are active, no doubt about that,” he said. “If something happens, let’s see.”
