Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has urged Enzo Maresca to stop doing one thing following Saturday’s win against Brighton.

The Blues made it three wins in a row in the Premier League with a 4-2 win over the Seagulls as Cole Palmer ran riot and stole the show by scoring all four goals.

The win means Chelsea have lost just one of their first six games and currently sit fourth in the Premier League with 13 points, just two behind early leaders Liverpool.

Whilst Chelsea may have come away with the three points there were still concerns especially in regards to Robert Sanchez and the playing out from the back.

Sanchez was arguably at fault for both of Brighton’s goals as he made two poor errors, outside of which Chelsea limited them to very few chances.

Brighton also played into Chelsea’s hands with how they set up and made a number of mistakes during the game.

Former Blue Leboeuf isn’t a fan of playing out from the back and has urged Maresca to instruct his players to stop doing it, whilst also giving the same message to Fabian Hurzeler.

“I have one [piece of] advice for the two coaches of these teams: stop playing from the back, guys! You don’t have the personnel for that.” he told ESPN.

Leboeuf’s frustrations are understandable and will resonate with many supporters but the reality is that Maresca has been hired to play this brand of football and that is unlikely to be changing any time soon.

More goals like on Saturday will be conceded throughout the season, with Maresca himself admitting afterwards he told Sanchez Chelsea will concede ten more goals like the second one against Brighton as that’s how they want to play.

Ultimately the mistakes didn’t cost Chelsea the three points, but at some stage this season an error playing out from the back will be the difference between winning and losing.
